Wednesday, moderate and gusty northerly winds will develop as surface high pressure builds over Texas. These winds will disperse pollutants and carry clean air into the Bayou State. Thus, AQI levels will be Good to high-Good statewide. Thursday and Friday, cold morning temperatures will produce an inversion, trapping pollutants near the ground. Furthermore, light northwesterly winds throughout much of the period will limit dispersion, and upper-level high pressure west of the state will reduce mixing. Additionally, smoke from potential agricultural fires may increase particle levels. These conditions will result in high-Good to low-Moderate AQI levels in most locations on both days.
