Daily Air Quality Forecast for Sturgis, Kentucky

Weather Analysis and Air Quality Forecasting Decisions: Ozone:  Warm and extremely humid for spring as a cold front is sweeping westward through the area. A strong surface low is moving eastward through the U.P. of Michigan into Canada with a high pressure off the Atlantic Coast. High pressure in Missouri is following close behind the low and skies are clearing and winds will weaken through the day. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny, warm and calm with highs in the upper-70's. Ozone models are saying borderline Good/ Moderate but we are definitely going Moderate. High pressure is right over the Ohio Valley, but is fairly weak although dew points will be quite low. Late Tuesday into Wednesday a system moving along the US/ Canadian border enters Minnesota lifting a warm front through and north of the state and bringing rain to many Gulf Coast and central plain states. Temperatures should reach low-80's and dewpoints above 60. Very warm again Thursday with highs near 80, but cloudy and very humid with numerous light thundershowers. More humid Friday with heavier thundershowers expected. Borderline Moderate Ozone Tuesday with Moderate Wednesday in the NOAA model with Canadian showing Moderates also. Fine Particulate:  A ridge off the Georgia coast with a low moving from the Great Lakes into Canada. After the low moves off we will be in a zonal pattern for much of the week turning more southerly. High pressure settles over the Ohio for a warm and calm Tuesday and a sunny and warmer Wednesday. Waves move easterly along the US / Canadian border helping to draw gulf moisture for late in the week. There might be enough rainfall to wash out particulates Thursday and will be enough for that Friday. Large high pressure builds into northern plains for the weekend. Looked at GFS meteorology models. Models show Moderates for Tuesday and Wednesday all around.
