Daily Air Quality Forecast for Watterson Park, Kentucky

AQI values for ozone have been in the good range from Monday to Wednesday with widespread moderate values recorded Thursday. A mix of good and moderate PM 2.5 readings were recorded Monday through Thursday. Temperatures Friday are forecast to be above average once again with highs in the mid-to-upper 80's. Friday will be mostly sunny with southerly winds 15-25 MPH and gusts up to 25 MPH. Friday night, showers and thunderstorms are likely with rainfall lasting into Saturday with a strong cold front. Storms could be on the strong side at times. Saturday the high temperature is going to be divided, with the northern tier of Southern Indiana only looking to get around 65 to 70 degrees for the high and the southern tier of the region in the low to mid 70's. The cold front is forecast to exit the region around 2z Sunday leaving much cooler and drier air behind. Sunday is forecast to be sunny but a high only around 60-65 degrees and Monday will be the same. The average high temperature for this date is 71 degrees Fahrenheit. The NOAA 06Z BC model for PM2.5 forecasts good Friday through Monday. Ozone is forecast to be good for the entire forecast period. For PM2.5, good seems likely Saturday through Monday due to the strong cold front, breezy conditions and rainfall. Friday could be a mix of good to moderate especially with weak-ridging building in before the chances of showers and storms, but mixing heights and gusty winds could help keep majority under good. I agree with ozone guidance as well for Saturday through Monday, but due to the widespread moderates observed yesterday and the similarity in our set-up today for the region including winds being similar, moderate seems plausible as well for Friday. Mixing heights are forecast to be around 7,500 ft Friday, 2,600 ft Saturday, and 9,500 ft Sunday.
