Ozone readings Wednesday and Thursday were moderate for the KY portion of SE and good for the Indiana side along with SW. PM2.5 was moderate Wednesday and Thursday. As of Friday morning, the hourly readings for ozone are good and PM2.5 is moderate. An extreme heat warning is still in place for the Evansville area until Saturday night for heat index values 105 to 110 degrees, and a heat advisory is in place for the Louisville area until Saturday evening for heat index values between 100-107 degrees. Friday and Saturday are forecast to be sunny and hot, with daytime highs around 100 degrees and overnight lows in the upper 70s close to 80 degrees. Later Saturday scattered rain and thunderstorm chances move in with a cold front. This will drop overnight lows in the 60s for the rest of the weekend. Sunday and Monday are forecast to be around 90 degrees with sunny conditions. Tuesday is forecast to be in the low 90's with sunshine as well. Dewpoints are forecast to be in the low to mid 70's Friday and Saturday. Sunday dewpoints drop to the mid 60's, Monday upper 50's to low 60's and by Tuesday low to mid 60's. Winds are forecast to be from the W 0-10 MPH Friday, NW 0-10 MPH Saturday, NE 0-10 MPH Sunday, ENE 0-10 MPH Monday, and SSW 0-10 MPH Tuesday. The NOAA 06Z BC model for PM2.5 forecasts moderate levels for Friday and borderline good and moderate Saturday and Sunday. The Canadian model shows good levels for that entire forecast period. I am going to go on the cautious side and follow NOAA model guidance and go moderate for majority of the forecast period because of past observations, high pressure, light wildfire smoke, humidity, and SW flow despite high mixing heights at times. The NOAA 06Z BC model for ozone predicts moderate levels for Friday and Saturday and good Monday. The Canadian model forecasts moderate to borderline USG for Friday and Saturday and good levels Sunday. High-end moderate seems likely Friday and Saturday with flow from the SW, sunshine, and warming temperatures. Dewpoints will limit ozone, but briefly lower over the weekend. Moderate once again seems possible Tuesday when winds switch from the SW and temperatures rise. Mixing heights are forecast to be around 8,200 ft. Friday, 6,000 ft. Saturday, and 5,600 ft. Sunday.
