Daily Air Quality Forecast for Belle Prairie City, Illinois

Southern Regions: PM2.5 was Good on Wednesday, and then a mixture of Good/Moderate on Thursday, while Ozone was Good both days. As of 12Z this morning the radar mosaic is showing widespread rain showers and thunderstorms across central, and portions of the southern Indiana area. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding are the main threats as this complex is very slow moving and will take some time to move out of and away from the area. Widespread shower and thunderstorm activity will continue through at least this early afternoon before abating as the warm front drops to the south and becomes a stationary boundary across southern Indiana with very few waves of activity riding along it to give forcing to more showers and storms. By Saturday morning it will then quickly lift back north as a warm front to a position over northern Indiana where it will become stationary once again. Models are projecting that this feature will later move south over Indiana as a cold front Sunday night bringing more likely chances for showers and thunderstorms to the area. In terms of temperatures, they will be a bit on the hot side this weekend with highs today around 90 and highs on Sat/Sun in the lower 90's. After the cold front moves through Sunday night, temperatures on Monday will only be in the mid-80's. Otherwise expect humid weather with dew points in the upper 70's. Winds will start off southerly today and tomorrow around 5 mph, then westerly on Sunday and Monday at 5 to 10 mph. Mixing heights will be 2500 ft today and tomorrow, and 3500 ft Sunday and Monday. The Canadian model is predicting a mixture of Good/Moderate for Ozone through Sunday. The 06Z BC NOAA model is predicting Good for both sites through Sunday for Ozone, which generally makes sense given the initially rainy and then cloudy and then rainy again forecast. Then Monday the area should be well clean out to go with Good again that day, so going with a Good forecast the entire period. As for PM2.5, the NOAA model is predicting Good to start off the forecast period and then transitions to Moderate either Saturday or Sunday (depending on the site). Think this is reasonable considering the weather pattern. In addition, will be going with Good for Monday as the area will be well cleaned out post frontal passage. To sum up, going with Good for today and then to be conservative, going with Moderate for both sites Sat/Sun, and then Good again for Monday.
