Daily Air Quality Forecast for New Haven, Illinois

Weather Forecast Discussion Surface high pressure is settling into the upper Midwest bringing some frost into Wisconsin and Iowa as a strong ridging remains over the desert southwest. Heights at 850 and 500 mb will rise early this week, so temperatures will rise a few degrees. For Tuesday and Wednesday the surface high will extend eastward across the Ohio Valley maintaining very sunny skies, low humidities, light north winds and highs in the mid 70’s. Hurricane Milton is approaching the Yucatan coast and is already Category 3. Milton should remain a very small size and narrowly avoid Yucatan Mexico, then strengthen and move northeastward toward Florida. Then Wednesday Milton will grow in size, but diminish in strength before it hits perhaps just north of St. Pete Florida late Wednesday evening. Air Quality model analysis and decision? Ozone: The NOAA model shows Good readings for tomorrow and Wednesday and the Canadian model also shows Goods for the next two days. With high temperatures in the low to mid-70’s, IDEM agrees. Fine Particulate: The NOAA model shows low-Moderate readings for Tuesday and Wednesday, the Canadian model shows puffs of Moderates overnight and during morning rush hour Tuesday and Wednesday. Canadian Smoke model shows substantial fires in the northern Rockies with smoke reaching the central plains with smaller fires in the Gulf Coast states with smoke plumes quickly dissipating. Some additional fires in Minnesota with no impact in the Ohio Valley states. Moderates for PM2.5 the next two days.
