PM2.5 - 55 Moderate
If you are unusually sensitive to particle pollution, consider reducing your activity level or shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
Monday, April 7: A trough of low pressure aloft will traverse northern California, enhancing atmospheric mixing and producing light to moderate westerly to southwesterly surface winds during the afternoon. As a result, AQI levels will be high-Good. Tuesday, April 8: As the trough of low pressure aloft departs to the east, atmospheric stability will gradually increase, limiting mixing over Portola. However, light to moderate west-southwesterly winds will continue to aid dispersion during the day, yielding low-Moderate AQI levels. Wednesday, a strong early-morning inversion will trap pollutants at ground level. Furthermore, calm to light westerly to southwesterly winds throughout the day will allow pollutants to accumulate in Portola. However, afternoon high temperatures in the low-70s will promote mixing, keeping AQI levels low-Moderate. Thursday through Saturday, calm to light surface winds during the morning and evening hours will allow pollutants to accumulate. However, vertical mixing will increase as the next upper-level low pressure system gradually passes north of the Portola region. Thus, AQI levels will remain low-Moderate on all three days.
