Daily Air Quality Forecast for Sierra Brooks, California

Monday, November 4 is a Wood Stove Curtailment Day. Wood stove burning is prohibited unless you are burning seasoned wood in a registered EPA-compliant wood stove with phase two emissions control technology or better. For more information on registering your wood heating device please contact NSAQMD at 530-832-0102. Monday, November 4: Calm to light winds throughout the afternoon and evening will allow pollutants to accumulate. Furthermore, an evening temperature inversion will trap pollutants near the ground. These conditions will lead to mid-Moderate AQI levels. Tuesday, November 5: Calm to light northerly winds during the morning hours will allow regional emissions to accumulate. In addition, a morning temperature inversion will confine pollutants near the surface. However, northerly to northeasterly winds will increase by the afternoon and evening, aiding dispersion and keeping AQI levels mid-Moderate. Wednesday, surface high pressure building over the Pacific Northwest will produce moderate and gusty easterly to east-northeasterly winds throughout the day. These conditions will disperse regional emissions, yielding high-Good AQI levels. Thursday through Saturday, as surface high pressure weakens and shifts toward northern Nevada, winds will become calm to light easterly throughout much of the period. These conditions will reduce dispersion and allow regional emissions to accumulate. In addition, temperature inversions each morning will trap pollutants at ground-level. Thus, AQI levels will be mid-Moderate on all three days.
