However, low pollutant carryover will lead to low-Moderate particle levels. Saturday, upper-level high pressure over the state will continue to inhibit atmospheric mixing. Furthermore, a strong temperature inversion will hinder low-level mixing during the morning. However, periods of light northwesterly winds will aid dispersion and transport cleaner air into the Sacramento region during the afternoon and evening, keeping particle levels low-Moderate. Sunday, dispersion will decrease as northwesterly winds diminish in response to a surface ridge of high pressure developing over the Sacramento region. In addition, areas of fog during the morning and evening hours will promote particle formation, leading to mid-Moderate particle levels.
